I have some ideas on this that I think might turn the whole thing on its head. I'm on a mission to create what I consider to be "The Wikipedia for Debates", the main point being that rather than handle debates in our current distributed, haphazard fashion of one-offs, we would have one place to go and contribute. One of the ramifications of this, I believe, is that when an argument needs to be supported by evidence, it will be the most solid, fluff-free sources that will win out as references. Given that the reference will be, in fact, a link out to the source site, it presents the opportunity for the antidote to clickbait: drive more traffic to your news source based on the content rather than the headline.
