I know how you feel, deeply. But don't give up hope! I'm working on a new paper, more serious this time, about the Canonical Debate and the role it can play in "Epistemic Security". That is, if you look at what's happening as an attack on our epistemology (ability to sort truth from fiction / belief systems), you'll see that it's possible to create defenses, and the Canonical Debate will be a powerful tool.

Rather than looking at what's happening as the failure of individuals (i.e. "the judgement of those who listen"), which is almost impossible to reverse, look at it from a systemic point of view. If you have read about Hybrid Warfare, it will make much more sense what is happening: it's easier to create doubt than certainty, and where there's doubt, people replace reason with the beliefs of the tribe. What the Canonical Debate can do is balance the scales between the effort to create doubt and the effort to make sense of it.
